Hello beautiful people , I'm in the process of landing a nursing infusion position. i know that this job entails medication admin via Iv lines, physical assessments, teaching etc. To your knowledge and experience, what certifications and learning should I pick up in order to enhance the required skills and knowledge for this particular genre of nursing. I really want to do a good job and gain the most out of it...thank you in advance for your input!

Specializes in Vascular Access.

There are two certifications that will increase your knowledge base, and give you credibility in the IV world. The first is obtaining your CRNI. The Certified Registered Nurse Infusion, is a national certification that denotes you as someone who has their expertise in IV therapy.

The other VA-BC. Getting your Vascular Access-Board Certified title is not as hard and also is not a test that is as comprehensive as the INCC, CRNI is, however, I would research them and find out the best fit for you.

Thank you so much for the response. I will definitely look into both.

I'm about to take the CRNI exam and have been reviewing for about 3 months. I am overwhelmed with the amount of information. Most of it I do not use in my job as an IV nurse. Any encouragement would be welcome.
