Cath lab rn

I am interested in learning what others are doing about annual competencies in the cath lab for staff?

Upon hire and orientation to the lab, nurses at my hospital are required to be checked off and complete every competency they might be responsible for. After that our educator, nurse manger, and some staff nurses sit down every year and identify items that are either high-risk/low-volume, problematic or new. We usually try to identify 10 areas to focus on for the year and develop new competency checklists if they do not already exist.

There is an excellent book by Donna Wright. It is available through Amazon. She approaches competencies in a different way. Rather than the standard checklists she provides alternative ideas for staff to demonstrate competency.
