I have been working in long term care and hospice care for 5 years, since I graduated.
My career goal is to be a Primary health Nurse practitioner.
I don't feel like I have a well rounded, appropriate background to start my NP yet.
My plan is to take a quick health assessment review course then start an ER certificate program and work for a couple years to gain experience.
Is it realistic to think the certificate will get me a job without having to spend years working in med/surg settings? I have to get my goal accomplished as fast as possible before my kids start university and I wont be able to afford it.
OR Do you have any other advice on what I should/could do?
Thanks!
