CA NCLEX - how long is the wait?

Hi all. Took the NCLEX last 7/11 and got the good pop out. There is no quick result for CA. For those who took the nclex here in California in the previous weeks, how long did you have to wait before you saw your name listed on the California BRN website?

I'm in CA and took it 7/1/13 and still haven't received my results... but, they (BRN) have informed me that (now) my application is incomplete and needs transcripts.

I would give it a good week and if nothing by then, give them a call. I wouldn't have known about my application being incomplete if I hadn't called...

Thanks, fringe. Did they tell you how many days more they need to process the paperwork once they received the transcripts?

They said 2-3 weeks after they receive all the documents they need. My school screwed up when they filled out our paperwork (for the LVN-RN/ADN) students, so it looks like we didn't complete the first year of the program... hahaha.

I took the NCLEX on the 9th of this month and my name was on the BRN on the 11th. I did not receive my pass letter in the mail or actual license yet. :)

I took my test June 25th and my name finally posted online on July 12! I'm also from CA!! My classmates also had te same wait time!

So I gather there really is not a set timeframe for the names to appear. It could be 2 days or it could be 2 weeks. Sigh....

I would call them and find out. Call the licensing division of BRN and inquire. Maybe your application is incomplete.

Exactly! Haha. It doesn't make sense but hopefully the PVT is correct and it can keep us from going out of our minds during the wait, right? I've started taking sleeping pills the last few weeks since NCLEX because, I can't sleep and then end up not being able to function at work...

Hey all RN's!

Also from Cali, here....graduated last July 2012, finally took NCLEX-RN today, July, 17. 2013. (I know, I know...but , sometimes "your life" is controlled by other forces! Hate it when that happens! haha)

I took Kaplan, but didn't have time to even take the "Readiness Test", let alone, take time for the QB questions. My Diagnostic Score: 60%, Qt 1-3: averaged 56%, Listened to the online/live 24 hr class, then took the remainder of tests: QT5 = 61, QT6 = 65, QT7 = 62. Decided to just "Go For It" anyway, and use the 1st testing experience as a 'trial-run' and just reschedule in 45 days', since I didn't feel ready, and figured I'd fail on the 1st run.

I decided ahead of time that I was not going to look up in the "upper Right Corner" to see which question I was on or what the time was. so when the first official break came 90 minutes later, I just assumed that I had already finished 75 questions, but still hadn't passed...so agreed to take the break. I took 20 minutes, ate some peanut M&Ms, smoked 2 cigs, drank a bottle of water, while prepareing prepared myself for a mental battle, even though I figured that I was going to fail, since it had been a year since I graduated and I never did finish the Kaplan course. But, I wasn't going down without a fight, and decided that "going slower" and reading every word in the stem and every answer choice before making a 'snap decision' seemed to "feel right", so I wasn't going to change my strategy. (I'm usually the 1st or 2nd person done taking a test, Yes---one of 'THOSE', and, I know...I could feel the hatred from my classmates! I wasn't trying to prove anything...but, they didn't know that I have ADD).

Anyway...after the break..went back in (to fight that battle), and knew that I'd take a 'voluntary' break in another 1.5 hours. It wasn't until then that I peeked up at the upper right-hand corner, and saw that I was only on question 63. That was kind of a nice little 'pick-me-up', but it didn't interfere with my belief that I'd be there 'for the duration' for the entire 6 hours.

Twenty minutes later, at question 75, the computer shut off. I was surprised, but not shocked, since I went into it ACCEPTING that I was going to fail. (Not "knowing", but "accepting"). Three hours later, I arrived home and did the Pearson Vue Trick, and got, "The Good Pop-Up".

I passed! That's all I need to know. I've been on these boards for 4 years, and never once have I seen that "the good pop-up" was wrong. While California takes it's time to update their computer system...I'm gonna go play! Get my motorcycle out of the garage (it's been sitting patiently in the garage all winter/spring---poor baby), do a little dancing, and just GET MY *******' LIFE BACK! Make some friends, and get to know this awesome new city.

If you got through nursing school...it doesn't matter whether ADN or BSN...you've been/were out of touch with what makes life awesome: Good Times! My advice, bite the bullet, take the Kaplan course, do all 7 Question Trainer Tests (at minimum), read EVERY rationale (even the ones you got right), use the internet to fill in any gaps....then just say, "F-it! I'm just gonna go for it! At worst, I'll not pass, and be able to get a peek into what the whole NCLEX-RN is really all about. I can always beg/borrow/steal the money to take it again in 45 days."

Perhaps I'm a pessimist....but at 52 yrs old, what works for ME is to ACCEPT the worst that could happen (not EXPECT...ACCEPT), then give it my best. If I win....I'm still, humbly, surprised...but it's a FABULOUS surprise! THE PVT works! Do I have confirmation from the CA BON, yet? Nope. Don't need it. Still going for that motorcycle ride tomorrow...and the next day...and the next! Will try to remember to post again when I get the "official" results...but no promises....I gotta a lot of miles of 'exploring' to do in my new state--before I start sending out the resumes---fighting, yet that OTHER battle of the 'RN-new grad'.
