Brock University Nursing Program?

Published

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anybody has any information on the Brock University Nursing Program. Brock University is located in St. Catharines Ontario and it is currently where I am enrolled. I was planning on switching into nursing and was wondering if this was a credible program.

The College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) recognizes Brock's nursing program, so yes, it is credible, see link to CNO's list of nursing programs in Ontario http://cno.org/reg/nonmemb/progs_rn.htm#university

I know this is an old thread, but just a heads up for those interested. Yes, it is a credible program, but I wouldn't recommend it depending on what you're looking for in a nursing program. I'm currently in the program, and they are very psycho-social and research based program (as opposed to bio-patho-skill based programs). A lot of courses that they teach are not what will actually prepare you to be working on the floor (2 research courses, trends & issues courses). I have heard from nurses who have graduated from the program, that Brock did not prepare them at all for real world floor nursing. Yes, they start you off right away in first year in clinical, but the clinical placements are very limited in nature. I know of people who have done TWO semesters of clinical placements in a long term care home.
