BPH stands for?

Hi everyone. Quick question, what does BPH stand for? It was listed in a pt's medical history that I am researching, but not sure what the letters stand for. Thanks for any help.

Hey Jennifer,

BPH is Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia which is basically a prostate which has grown (increased in cells) large which will can produce symptoms in men such as trouble starting urination etc. This happens because a large prostate will effect the urethra being able to readily pass urine.

Pretty much men over 40 are destined for a little or a lot of BPH.
