Books you recommend for CNA.

Hello to everybody! I'm taking ESL course at community college in Chicago. Now I'm on level VI and I have an opportunity to enter at CNA program, so I consider taking its. Could anybody suggest me some books that will be useful for this speciality?

Thanks in advance.

Not worth the money to purchase books for CNA class. There are several books, used in classes across the country, of which I'm aware. But, as most textbooks, they are updated regularly and if you purchase one now it will certainly be out-of-date when you take the class.

Also, the textbook portion of CNA classes are very simple and at a high school level. No need to 'study in advance'. It's the skills that you have to be more concerned about.

Thanks a lot for advice. But I always like to study in advance if I take something, doesn't matter what. And I think it's always helpful to be well-informed. So I really need some useful books about CNA, at least for passing the test. I've asked about it couple guys are taking CNA class. They suggested me this book - "Textbook for nursing assistants" by Sorrentino. Has anybody ever studied or heard it?

It's Mosby's Textbook for Nursing Assistants by Sheila Sorrentino and that is one of the standard books. Keep in mind, new editions come out all the time so you might purchase the 6th edition and will have to buy the 7th edition for class (as an example). So, if you want to go this route, get a used book at a school that has a bookstore and has the CNA class. A new book is probably around $60 --- should get if for half that if you get an edition or two back.

Thanks for the response. I've already begun looking for this old edition.

Yeah they do change the books often. I signed up for the class last year and had to drop it. Then resigned up this year and had to buy a new book.
