Biological Training

Im just curious what type if any, biological training any of the nurses have gotten?

If we got hit by smallpox/anthrax/nerve agent today, are you prepared? What has your hospital done to prepare you?

I know most ED's and EMS personel have attended training into this, but its the nurses that will care for these patients, especially during the diagnostic stages. I went to a mock mass casualty exercise a short time ago, and was wondering if we are ready for a large scale biological event..........

Remember the movie The Stand, or even Resident Evil or 28 days later.......I believe our government has something locked up that could possibly cause something like that to occur.......

What are your thoughts?

I was just fit yesterday for my filter masks & HEPA gear as all new employees of this hospital were as percautionary for any airborne diseses... I am not sure anyone is 100% ready for something as dramatic as the movies... however I know that in the hosptials in my area disaster control is always an issue ESPECIALLY after 9/11.... It's not those wack instances that scare me most though.. My fear is all the drug resistant bugs and mutating viruses that are becoming!!! Just recently a man was DX with a rare strain of HIV that caused full blown AIDS within 2 months!!! YIKERS :uhoh21:
