Hey...From Texas!

What area of Texas are you considering?

Hey that was speedy lol. Well my sister lives in Dallas but I'm up for wherever really. Houston Austin or Dallas/FW itself.

I'm from SouthEast Texas.

Lamar University in Beaumont has recently started accepting 80 students into their nursing program (RN).

Lamar State College in Orange accepts 80 LVN (day) and 20 (night) students. They also have an ADN-upward mobility bridge program.

Both schools have great instructors.

Beaumont and Orange are not "big city" like Austin, Houston, or D/FW area but it's a nice place to live. Cost of living is low.

Try the DFW area and North Texas. I go to www.grayson.edu and they do not have a wait list. They strictly go by a points system. If you want to get your BSN then try www.twu.edu. And the Dallas area pays pretty good for CNA's. If you go work in the hospital anywhere from $10 - $14 and hour.

Are you currently working as a CNA in the Orlando area? Why do you want to get out of Orlando? I am near the Orlando area and about to get into a prep course. Is the pay bad in the Orlando area?

Hopeful76: I am not currently a CNA here, but i am also taking a prep course ( mine starts today!). My problem isn't totally with being a CNA here. I have a friend that works at arnold palmer and she makes 12 an hour so i suppose that isn't horrible but i have NO idea what people are making in other hospitals or LTCs or any of that. My problem really comes with the fact that i want to continue on and the schools around here have such long waiting lists! Also, the pay for LPN's and RN's here is awful awful awful. In my mind it almost makes more sense to just move do my schooling and then already be where i want to work you know? I'm not 100% decided on this yet but it seems like it might be a good idea. Also i am thinking of plan B just in case i finish this class up and get my certification and can't find a job anywhere here which i have been more and more TERRIFIED of.
