how to become a cna

I was wondering if anyone has information on how to become a CNA in California and in Florida. I want to be certified in both places. I know LA city college has a couple courses, but not sure if those are sufficient. I really don't know anything about the process except that there is an examination and you need some sort of training. Any information appreciated:) (I want to do this to make myself more prepared for nursing school).

I've been a CNA in California since 2008. There are two options in the area where I live. I went through a free 7 week program that was offered through a nursing home. Once we passed the class we went on to take the state test to become certified. Then there's a community college program here that's a whole semester long. Here the community college students did their hands on training in a hospital as well as a nursing home, my training was just in a nursing home.

Do you know how many credits you have to take? There is a class at LA city college that is 6 credits, but I'm not sure if that is a class or just a course

At a community college if you plan on getting financial aid, you would probably have to attend full time which is 12 credits. You should contact the school directly because they are able to better answer your questions though. I live in central Cali.
