Beating a Dead Horse

I deeply apologize for beating this to death buttt....

I am a nurse practitioner student in the WV area, and I am looking for guidance on finding a NP preceptor. I have my first clinical rotation in the summer of 2013, and I want to secure things prior to heck Spring semester.

I have looked up all the NP in my area ( 100 mile radius)

Talked to MD's NP i work with....

I have asked my GP whom is an NP as well ( she is willing to help)

My plan is to mail formal letters to MD's, NP's asking for assistance, then follow up with a phone call or personal visit within one week of mailing letters.....

Does anyone have any other suggestions/ advice.... There are MANY NP's in my area.... Is it a good thing to start a year early??

    I began looking for a preceptor in July when I didn't need one until January. Preceptors commit early. You could def. start now. Even if you don't think you are going to have an issue, I'd get one in place...you are going to have plenty other things to worry about and having your preceptor in line is such a stressor off of your shoulders.

    I am having a hard time finding preceptors..and I started in March of this year ( I am needing one by spring). I seem to be getting a lot of NPs who won't call or email you back; as well as office managers. I say begin early, get your name in, because sometimes they say it's just too early to commit. That way when you call back they remember you. Best of luck!
