ASU Pre-requisite Issues!

Published

Hi, everyone.

So I am pre-nursing student doing my pre-reqs for ASU. But I've come to a road block. So I thought I would see what other people can/would suggest. So far I have 9 of the 17 lower division requirements to enter the program. But 4 of the lower division class such as :

HCR 210: Clinical Health Care Ethics

HCR 220: Introduction to Nursing and Health Care Ethics

HCR 230: Culture and Health

HCR 240: Human Pathophysiology

These are courses I do not have at my community college. I should mention that I am a prospective transfer from Connecticut. So what are my options? Can I apply to the upper division part of the program with only 13 of the 17 pre-reqs? Do I have to transfer to ASU, finish these courses and then apply to the program? I would appreciate any advice and criticism.

Thank you.

If the classes are listed as pre reqs, they have to be completed before entering the program. You can take them online through Rio Solado College out here. THey will offer all of those course and they will transfer to ASU. You will have to pay out of state tuition, but it will be less than taking them through ASU.

You are correct, you can apply w/ 13 of 17 and finish the remaining classes prior to beginning. Be aware that ASU is the most competitive program in the valley and a superb GPA and TEAS score will be needed for acceptance. You can take the remaining prereqs at any one of the 10 Maricopa Comm Colleges ( as long as they offer it ). I was planning to apply to ASU with a 4.0 (12 of 17 completed) but have recently decided to apply to Grand Canyon Univ. instead due to the 16 month programs they offer that can be started Fall / Spring / or Summer and also they give $3500 in scholarships to students w/ incoming GPA's above 3.7 (-: ASU offers a 16 month program only starting in the summer and it costs a lot more due to inflated summer tuition. GCU also has satellite campuses in several areas valley wide.
