Applying to multiple jobs at a facility?

Hi everyone,

This is my first post here, I've been a lurker for a long time now though.

Let me start off by saying I have an amazing job, I love my unit, the patient population, and the staff. However, I am living 3000 miles away from my family and friends, and I just want to go back home, where I know the job market is tight (Boston) and I only have one year experience.

My question is: does anyone know how it works when applying for multiple positions? Like I said, I love my unit and the patient population, but I could see myself working in different fields. I currently work on an intermediate cardiac/surgical step down unit, but I think I would enjoy other types of intermediate care, possibly ICU, and certainly the operating room (strange, I know, but it's what I've always wanted to do). I have found a few positions I am eligible for at one hospital in particular and I applied to one. Will HR/managers notice if I apply for multiple? For example, there are MICU, SICU and CVICU positions open. Would it be detrimental for me to apply to all of these listed positions if I am qualified?

Again, like I said I do LOVE my job and it wouldn't be the worst thing for me to stay, just emotionally as I have no support system down here besides my puppy and my employers.

Thank you in advance, I greatly appreciate the positivity and support I consistently read on here.

I see no one has answered your question. I would love to know the same thing. I'm sorry I don't know the answer.

Apply to all of them and then follow up with a call to the nurse recruiter and explain to her exactly what you said...that you are looking for a new opportunity in nursing and those fields interest you. If all goes well she will ask you which you are most interested in and you will interview for that position. I applied for a few different positions at my first hospital. OR and L&D. I spoke to the nurse recruiter and she had me interview for OR and I've been there for 2 years. So it doesn't hurt to do it that way, just explain yourself when you call the recruiter a week after you apply to sell yourself. Good luck.

The one place I applied to encouraged you to apply to different ones. I feel like it shows you want to work for that organization and that you are willing to work in a variety of units.
