... does anyone have any insight about the wait list procedure for Excelsior courses? I never wait til the last minute but I just took my boards and then got accepted to the RN-BSN program... then my FAFSA had to be verified... and I got approved for a grant. However I have to enroll in 2 classes for the may term since the grant is for the 2009-2010 school year, and the may term is the last one before the end of the school year (june 30th). I just got notified on friday that my financial aid was approved and now all the classes i need are full except one. So I will register for the one... and then how do I get on the wait list for the other courses? I don't see a way to do it online. Do I have to contact my advisor? And does anyone have any experience with being on a wait list for a course before and actually getting in the course? One of the courses I need has only 1 person on the wait list, so I'm hoping maybe I'll be able to get into that one. What do ya think? I plan on contacting excelsior tomorrow, but just hoping for a little insight here too. Just afraid I'm going to lose this grant. And I'm not going to qualify for one after this because my 2009 income was a lot higher.

you might just try calling or emailing the instructor for the class itself. sometimes, they'll let an extra student or two in. or if that doesn't work, can you just take an elective, or something that might cover a credit for a master's program? at least that'll get your fin aid for the semester. otherwise, i'd call your advisor first thing in the morning...worst thing anyone will tell you is too bad. good luck! let us know how it turns out!
thank you for your response. i didn't think of calling or emailing the instructor directly. are/were you an excelsior student? coz i know in other schools i've attended the professors have authority in letting extras into their class, but i just don't know the procedure at excelsior yet. i will definitely call in the morning. just freakin out a lil lol. yea, considering just taking an elective eventho i won't need it for my bsn program. thanks again.
i'm finishing up with the rn program now. i've had a good experience so far, so i'm thinking about going on thru there for my bsn. i've heard conflicting stories about how well they transfer credits in, wanting you to take more courses and whatnot, but i'm doing my sciences there, so i don't have a lab credit. that limits my choices a bit! and they are fairly comparable in price to other schools, so i guess we'll see. gotta finish the one i'm in first! good luck on getting in that class!
congrats on finishing up your rn program. yea i don't about anyone else's credits transferring, but they accepted most of mine. i only have to take 2 humanities courses and a statistics, and something else but i can't remember. but 2 of the courses are offered as examinations if i want, so it's not that big of deal. anyway it worked out great, because all of the nursing courses were full, but i was able to sign up for the 2 humanities courses today so i can take advantage of my financial aid!!! so i'm all set. the advisor said they don't accept anyone on the waiting list during the first week of class... but she said to keep checking because someone may have dropped. however, the one humanities class that was full, they added another section so i was able to sign up for it. yea, for me the cost is great. the grant will cover my 2 humanities credits. then i will take 5 exams (3 nursing and 2 for the other 2 pre-reqs i need) which are less than $300 a piece... which only leaves 4 nursing classes at about $1000 a pop. not too bad for me. and i can finish it quick if i want, hopefully in a year. oh and as far as the financial aid... they don't credit it to your account until halfway through the quarter, so that won't be til like the middle of june. so i had to set up a payment plan and pay for part of the courses now and then i will be sent a refund check in june. that's the only part that sux... i was hoping my account would be credited right away. anyway, good luck in finishing up your rn program and moving on to your bsn program!
