Another question

Since I can't get a hold of my sponsor, I am using all of you. I am wondering if when I get to Travis and I am in temporary housing looking for a place, do I recieve any BAH at this time? Thank you in advance. I am trying to sort out bills and things before I go. I do take a bit of a paycut coming in, but I get my first promotion very quickly also.

Yes you will...at least in the navy you do. I lived in the BOQ and the Navy lodge for like a month when I 1st got to SD. Still got my BAH plus the navy paided for the 1st 10 days of temp. housing in the navy lodge.

Good luck.

You get BAH the day you start active-duty. The only difference is the rate that you will get. You will receive BAH at the rate of your home of record until you sign in at/get to your next duty station (Travis AFB).

You get BAH while at COT. Also, you will get family separation pay as long as you are married and or have children while at COT. Plus don't forget about dislocation allowance for your move.

The only bad thing is all that pay won't really catch up to you until you get to Travis.

Hope that helps a little.

Same thing for the AF except that the AF calls it TLF (temporary living facilities) instead of BOQ.
