Anesthesia reference websites

Hey everyone ... this is specifically aimed at the SRNA's who may want more than one explanation of something while in school. Sometimes I find easier to understand explanations on various websites and these are some of my favorites.

http://www.anesthesia-analgesia.org/ Good for your research classes, has full journal text for a fee and abstracts for free.

http://gasnet.med.yale.edu/

http://www.anesthesia.org/resident/program/pharmacology/inhal_anes_bryson_09_2000.pdf An actual paper on the pharm of inhaled anesthetics.

http://www.anesthesia.org/resident/program.asp If you do some looking, you can find practice tests (with answer keys), and powerpoint presentations for the anesthesia residents.

http://www.nysora.com/techniques/techniques.htm Has some really good anatomy graphics and technique tips for nerve blocks.

http://users.rcn.com/jkimball.ma.ultranet/BiologyPages/C/CellSignaling.html Gives a good synopsis of cell receptors, and additional blue words in the text will link you to specific articles on that subject.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page Not specifically a medical website, but has returned some pretty thourough searches that I've requested.

http://www.mtsinai.org/pulmonary/papers/eq/eq1.html Has the "four most important clinical equations" from a pulmonologists viewpoint.

http://www.chemtutor.com/gases.htm#dalton Gas laws, explanations and examples.

http://www.fpnotebook.com/ Has some really good details about pharmacology and pharmacokinetics of most drugs (and some anesthetics), seprated by specialty.

http://www.iupui.edu/~anesth/iu_residents.html If you have a PDA or PocketPC and the isilo reader (http://www.isilo.com) then there are tons of database files here for your use - look at the Corsaro Files and they're all free. The only thing you have to pay for is the isilo reader (worth it in this instance).

http://www.gasnet.org/ Also has some free PDA software if you have the eReader (comes standard with most Palms) and a lot of educational resources.

If anyone has more please share. I used to have about 30 medical/anesthesia websites bookmarked on my old computer and I'm slowly finding them again. Happy reading!

air ... dang it! Sorry - hopefully these'll help you in the near future. Hope you did good on your pharm exam.

I see that result after clincals today.

great sites...thanks

Another good site for Pharm review and other anesthesia related stuff is:

http://www.nurse-anesthesia.com

I like this website a lot. The study guides are excellent.

Hey VK,

What are the Corsaro files like? What kinds of info? I am looking for free downloads for a new Palm, and since you said they were good I just wanted a little more.

EA

Thanks Kat,

I'll be in Charlotte the 7th to interview!

EA,

the corsaro files have a lot of info ... some of it is unnecessary (like the hospital pagers) but some can be used as an excellent resource. All you need is the isilo reader, and it's pretty cheap.

Big Dave,

I PM'd you!
