Anesthesia attitudes

So after reading SDN's anesthesiology site I just have one question...are the attitudes really that poor in the work environment? I want to go into a CRNA program but I don't know that I could handle it day in and day out if that is a true representation of the work environment.

Actually, you would be surprised to know that most CRNAs and anesthesiologists work extremely well together, at least where I am. I work in a large academic institution, and we have the largest division of anesthesia in the US, and our CRNAs and MDs work well together. That's not to say that each doesn't their own opinion regarding practice issues, but those debates do not take place at the bedside of a patient.

I don't think I've ever been anywhere that the relationship between the CRNA's and the MDA's was a poor as it seems at SDN. Remember, those folks are students, they are frazzled and frustrated, and every little thing gets blown up.

I've enjoyed just about all the docs I've worked with.
