I'm an american nurse looking into registering with the AHPRA, however, the whole process is a bit confusing. I have read the 8 criteria for international nurses but do not know if I just mail all the documents myself, ask my nursing school to do it for me, or is there somewhere on the actual website where you register? Any replies or guidance is greatly appreciated since I am a bit overwhelmed. I wouldn't mind PM'ing anybody who has gone through the process and wouldn't mind helping either. Thanks in advance.

Hi me32,
I am just coming to almost the end of a 14 month process, but that was in part due to the board's changes in process and a lot of other national guidelines. There is an application that you can download that tell you everything you need. Basically it is asking for the hours and outlines of the pharmacological sections of your program. This was difficult from me so I sent all of my course outlines, which provided the hours covered for studying and workload, also provided the text books and anything else that they may need. If you did a separate pharm course sent as much details you can get the school to send as well as the school cataolog (which I did).
"Certification from your education institution, provided directly to AHPRA, that you successfully completed your course of study which covered medication management including drug calculation, pharmacokinetics (the study of the bodily absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of drugs and pharmacodynamics (the study of the biochemical and physiological effects of drugs and the mechanisms of their action in the body). " Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia - IQNM: Criteria 1 - 8 for internationally qualified registered nurses
Hopes this helps!! Cheers
