AG-ACNP

Published

Looking into different programs for going to NP school. Was wondering if anyone had some insight on the AG-ACNP? Is this better and more specialized than just FNP? What can an AG-ACNP do that a FNP cannot? I know that AG-ACNPs only see patients over 18. I wouldnt be to upset if I never had pediatric patients. Just trying to figure out the best route to take and what program is best for me. I am an ER nurse right now and am wanting to continue working in the ER or in trauma after I complete my advanced degree. Thanks!

The FNP role is primary care based and allows you to see everyone across the age spectrum. The ACNP role is acute care based and will most likely allow you to continue working in a setting like the ER versus a FNP certification, to be more in line with the Consensus model.
