AESTHETICS

If I'm a PCU RN right now but I'm looking into getting into Aesthetics what would be the best way to do that? I'm not really sure where to start.

First. you need to look into your State Boards for Nursing and Cosmetology. In many States to practice as an aesthetician, you need to go to an approved Cosmetology school for a separate aesthetician license.

So, do not assume your Nursing license will cover you. That said, if this is the regulation in your State , you can often obtain your Aesthetics license in about one year full time. Try to visit different types of aesthetic clinics and spas in your area to see what types of service offer. This can help you decide if you would like to go in a medical clinic or beauty clinic direction or a blend of both. You can of course also do this online, and contrast different spas and clinics throughout the nation, in addition to your local area to get a feel of what nurse aestheticians offer and what the service menu prices are.

Best wishes with your career goals!

Hello,

First you should attend an aesthetic training class. There you will learn more in depth about facial anatomy and the different products/ procedures done. Then you will get to practice on live models!

It's up to you how many trainings you would like to attend. You'll be certified from those trainings.

Then you can apply to med-spa' s or a plastic surgeons office.

But in all honestly, practicing on the job is the best for improving your technique.

Aesthetics takes a good eye, it is an art where the patients face is your canvas.

The best thing that could happen is that you change their lives and boost their confidence.

The worst thing that could happen is that you give them eyelid ptosis for a couple weeks or you inject into a blood vessel and occlude their blood supply, giving them a giant bruise or causing necrosis.
