I have been a waitress for 4 years and absolutely LOVE it. I'm currently half way to my LPN in an ADN program. I was telling one of my instructors that I didn't want to practice as an LPN while working on my RN because I love waitressing and I know that once I get my RN career then I will be a nurse for the rest of my life, so why not do something else I know I love until then....

She told me that I should maybe rethink it and go into practice as an LPN.

Just wondering what some of you others think about it

I think that as an LPN (and a future RN) you will still be a waitress.

Not just for food, but for a lot of other things too.

Welcome to the current customer service-oriented health care field.

I agree with your instructors advice for many reasons.

1 When you apply for a job as an RN you will have some medical experience to put down.

2 You will learn things not taught in school that prepares you to be a better RN.

3 You will become more comfortable around patients, learn time management skills, and meds during your time as a LPN.

4 This is more personal, I love to learn and to be challenged so doing something I like because I am comfortable there is not an option for me.
