ADN Interviews?

Published

Hello all! I am currently a Psychiatric LCSW and have been applying to ADN and ABSN programs. I heard back quickly from an ADN program requesting either a virtual or in person interview (my choice) for faculty introductions, to introduce myself, a program overview and an opportunity to ask questions about the program. Has anyone else had to do this for nursing programs and did it seem promising for admission? Also, what are some key questions I should ask the interview committee other than questions related to clinicals, courses, etc.?

Congratulations for getting an interview for the ADN program you applied to! If you need some general advice on how to prepare for a nursing interview, feel free to check out our AllNurses article: 16 Common Nursing School Interview Questions & Answers - Nursing Resources (allnurses.com)

When it comes to asking the school questions, I think it's important to do your research on the school, so you can ask insightful questions related to what you've researched about the school. Other factors that come into play may be asking questions in regards to nursing skills. For example, asking methods of how they foster collaboration and teamwork in their teaching.

When it comes to answering questions and preparing, make sure you have a list of examples you can discuss that are related skills in nursing. What are some leadership skills you have, conflict resolution, teamwork skills, etc.
