Accepted as an alternate for nursing program

Published

Hi all!

I've been accepted into Ivy Tech Bloomington as an alternate for their ASN program this fall. I'm very excited about that, but I'm wondering if any of you are familiar with the particulars when it comes to alternate status. For instance: how many alternates do they select? what, realistically, are the odds that as an alternate I'll actually be invited into the program? I've read in other posts that some schools let you know what rank as an alternate you hold, but I've not been told how many people are ahead of me. I have to go to an orientation, just as though I've been accepted, and be measured for uniforms, etc. I'm very excited to be in the program :p , but I hate it that I have to rely on someone else's misfortune to get in! :o

If any of you have had a similar experience or knowlege about this, I sure would appreciate a reply! Thanks! :)

Hey there,

I just graduated form the ASN program at Ivy tech Bloomington. I was a LPN and then did the ASN program, and it has been odvious that all the alternates I have seen get in. People drop out so even if they dont tell you at orientation be prepared to start they called my friend the day before classes started and told her she was in. They make get fitted for your uniforms and stuff because it takes a while to get them once they are ordered. Good luck to you I think that they have a great nursing program and even though it may seem hard dont give up!!!!!!!!!!!!
