I am looking into participating in an accelerated nursing program (I received my Bachelor's in 2008), and I understand that it's common knowledge that it's highly recommended you don't work during that time. I am a single mom and have my child every other week, so while I do have that time to myself, I don't see how not working is an option (the ex-husband and I have split custody so there is no child support either way, not that it would be enough to live on), but does anyone have any ideas on how I can make this work? Has anyone been in or know someone who was in my situation? My closest family member is 4 hours away, so moving back home rent-free is no option.

Depends on the program, your financial situation, age and personality of child, social and logistic support systems, and so on.
