AACC Spring 2015

Published

Hello!!!!

I applied to Anne Arundel Community College in March/April and finally received my acceptance for Spring 2015! I hope to get into the Hybrid program... Anyone else get their acceptance and if so what program are you going for?

Yes, received my acceptance letter just this week. I personally think I will benefit from class instruction so I will be going in the traditional program. Good luck in the hybrid class, that sounds exciting

I received my letter this week. I do not benefit from taking online classes. I need to be face to face with the instructor. Good luck. I heard there are only 16 spots for hybrid classes.

On another note. I was so mad when they said that GPA isn't a factor anymore. I work/study so hard to get a 3.5 GPA and a 89% on the teas. Now anyone can get in the program. But who is it to say a 2.5 GPA student won't make a good nurse.

Yep. Everyone gets in now.

I am little worried when i hear that everyone can get in. did something happen. I have all my credits but I am worried I won't get in. I am transferring back to aacc and hopefully they will take my credits.

They changed to rolling admission - so anyone who meets basic requirements (I think 2.5 GPA & passing TEAS score) gets in on a waitlist. The waitlist is full for a few semesters out. I had to wait a year.

Basically it's non-competitive and making the ADN degree a joke. But Honestly, I see the ADN degree as a whole getting phased out in the coming years. Bachelor's will eventually be the minimum requirement in my opinion.

After speaking with the counselor, AACC found out that lots of students with the perfect test scores and grades were not making it through the program. Some of that comes from people retaking classes until they get an A, making their overall GPA higher. Ultimately the ADN program will be phased out. Most hospitals are requiring a Bachelors or they require that you receive a bachelors within your first year.

Hi!

I am slated for the Fall 2016 Program!

How is your experience going??!!

I graduated from aacc about 2 years ago. They had recently relaxed the requirements for the program when I applied, and more than half of my class failed out. We only had about 20 students and I was in the hybrid program. It was still new at the time so possibly it was a combination of things that caused this. Everyone passed the first semester, but we lost a bunch during medsurg I, medsurg II and then a few in peds. It seemed that the people who were working in addition to going to school had the hardest time. I loved the hybrid program, but it's not for everyone. If you like hearing the lectures and learn well from hearing the information you might want to do face-to-face program. Good luck to you all! You can do it!
