A year in Nursing

Good morning, I have been a med Surg nurse for a year now and I am starting to think about my next moves. I don't think I want to stay in med Surg but am having a hard time thinking where to go. Anyone ever have this issue? How did you figure out next steps?

Hello WannabaNurse,

When I was first deciding the next step - I thought about where I saw myself. For me, I've always loved education and pushing myself to my highest potential. In nursing, for me it was a given to go to the ICU.

Do you like more of a one-on-one connection with patients? ie. Hospice

Do you like being more analytical and knowledge-based? ie. ICU

Do you like the craziness of a busy environment? ie. ER

Think about what options best suite you, your personally and wants out of your career ?  Hope this helps!

This helps a lot. Thank you so much. That is a good way to think of it. I do enjoy fast paced. But is there a faced paced without the stress?
