Info about Cooper Hospital, NJ

Hi there! I'm interested to hear feedback from anyone who is working or who has worked at Cooper University Hospital in NJ. I'm very interested in working there but seem to have a difficult time finding information about the climate for employees. I don't currently have any contacts there, either.

Is there a professional ladder in place? Do they encourage nurses to advance in their position? What is Cooper known most for? Do you see interdisciplinary teams? Is Cooper magnet status?

In other words, what sets Cooper apart from other hospitals in the area, or even in the nation?

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Cooper is a Level 1 trauma center. It's a great hospital known for their trauma care, but are top notch in other specialties as well, and yes it is magnet. I'm not sure about working environment but I had clinical there and enjoyed it very, very much. You see everything there. Some of my classmates got hired there and seem to love it, but I work over the bridge in philly and have coworkers who took pay cuts to leave there. Its all relative. They are a union hospital, but from what I've gathered things such as ratios aren't really under great control. Again, I don't work there. This is hear say from employees.

I know they offer some sort of tuition reimbursement, but don't know if they push you as much as say, Penn does to go back to school.

I don't think people hate working there. It seems like an amazing place to learn. Definitely my top clinical site when I was in school.

Cooper is not Magnet. They failed miserably. The climate is at an all time low. They fire people all the time. The patient satisfaction scores are awful and the infection rates are up too. New managers lead with fear. You have to park by the aquarium and take the shuttle
