I have a problem . I have been talking to Navy and the Air force for an enlisted position. The problem is they want me to give them an answer, but I just do not know . I want to go to the Air Force, but I have to be away from my children for long. And to top it off I have been accepted into LVN school. Do you have any advice? I was told that my journyman training would be a year with phase I,II, & III. After a year of my life I would have a EMT.

I too have considered the Navy and Airforce...I am not sure of your Nursing and Educational Goals but I can tell you that if you are interesed in serving in the Military get your RN first....

Not sure if you have ever heard of the Navy Nurse Candidate Program, but it sounds really interesting. If you get your ADN=RN then you can apply to the program and they will pay you $2500 upfront to sign a contract, $500 each month for 2 years while you are in school, and another $2500 6 months after signing the contract. You agree to finish your BSN in Nursing at an accredited school on-line or otherwise within 2 years of signing the contract. You will have no Navy service obligations while you are in school for the two years. Once you graduate, you then enter the Navy as an "OFFICER" (O-1 or higher based on experience, education, or prior military service), *no boot camp*, just officer training (OIS). You have to commit to serve 4 years active duty and 4 years reserves. That is alot of time, but you serve at the Officer level which means more money and more advancement.

I have also heard alot of interesting things about Airforce Nursing but I don't know the details. There is a Military/Government section on this website that has alot of info available.
