What can I do to bolster my NICU interview?

I have done 2 interviews for my local NICU for an RN position (there is only one in the area and I don't have the ability to move) and I don't know what I am doing wrong. The first time, I already worked at the NICU in a different position that I no longer qualified for because it was for students (and I had graduated). I know everyone in the NICU, the majority of them well, and they tend to like me (in fact, a friend that works there still has stated that the employees still talk about how unfair it was that I didn't get an RN position there). I have taken an optional NICU course when I was in nursing school, I did my preceptorship in the NICU, I help out with March of Dimes, and I have two years experience in the NICU from my previous position there. I also always had good to excellent reviews while in the NICU. In fact, since I was working at the NICU for my first interview I asked my supervisor why I didn't receive the position and she stated it wasn't that I didn't do well in my interview, I actually did excellent, but there were others with a bit more experience than I have had (in fact, I was only a half point away from getting a position, as they hire on a point basis based on how the interviewee answers the interview questions). I don't know what I am doing wrong.

My question is this: Is there something I can do in the way of certfications, continuing education, courses, or anything that can give me a leg up in the interview? I already have a huge passion for NICU and am willing to spend money on anything that will increase my chances of getting a position there. Ideas?
