I'm interviewing for a position on a BMT floor and I'm wondering if anyone can provide me with some tips on good internet information sources so that I can learn a little more about the specialty. My background is in GI medicine and surgery, but this position really appeals to me because this area of nursing seems like it could be a really challenging and rewarding change for me. However I'm having a rough time finding specific info, e.i; nursing considerations, care plans, common interventions, ect.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I work in the outpatient oncology setting, so I see patients from mobilization through post-transplant follow-up (minus the actual transplant - we very very rarely do them). I came to oncology from ICU and was totally foreign to this stuff. I bought this book from ONS - Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation: A Manual for Nursing Practice. It is an EXCELLENT resource. It covers every aspect of the BMT world. If you become an ONS member, the book is $60 (but well worth it - both membership and book). Good luck!
