Ok, so now I have a question for ANYONE out there who FAILED the CPNE for 1 reason or another the allotted 3 times and STILL want to earn their ASN through Excelsior (Formerly Regents????????????? Has this happened to anyone and if so what recourse or action was at your disposal. This happened to me the alloted 3 times due to MY BAD HEALTH, and not necessarily the Regents College CPNE. At the time of the last failure, the then administration told me they had approved the option for me to retake the exam AGAIN. I was too sick, too broke, and too upset to try again at that time ie 2001. So I let my enrollment lapse, WRONG!! Now I have to RETAKE all the nursing exams and the Life Span test before I can even apply for the CPNE. I also have to wait for at least 5 years from when my enrollment lapsed. OK

I feel deeply for you. Now understand the world is intact and you can do it.

In 1973 I was kicked out (that is right) of a traditional ADN nursing program. Took a few more course (non nursing at the college and finally was kicked out (that is right) of the college all together. Left school with a 1.69 GPA.

I enrolled in Regents. Took all the written exams and passed. They were paper an pencil and you had to go to Albany back then. The because of an adiministrative snafu I did not get to take the CPNE before my enrollment ran out. I was broke and did not have the money to continue my enrollment and take the exam. So I missed out.

I followed Regents over the years. Saw the evolution for the better.

Finally in 1997 I went back to school had to retake everything except English 101, Psyc 100 and Soc 101. Graduated with a GPA > 3.2 (don't recall exactly)

I am now enrolled in Excelsior RN to BSN. Still maintaining the GPA.

The key to sucess is to not give up until you suceed. You can only fail if you give up.

I took 30 years to finish what I started It will not take you anywheres that long.

Those hall of famers struck out many many more times than the number of home runs that they hit.
