LPNs & blood administration in N.C.

Many have asked: "Can LPNs administer blood?" As each state varies in scope of practice regarding the LPN, I will answer for North Carolina. Per a reply from the NCBON, to answer this question, please note the following:

"Lpns can administer blood and blood products IF they have the needed

education, have demonstrated competence to an RN, and their agency policy

allows it."

REMEMBER, this applies to LPNs in N.C.
