Hi!

I am planning on applying to an accelerated BSN program to start Jan 09 (the app deadline is this May). This meant that I had to take A&P I, Chem, and Micro this semester since you have to have those three classes done b/f applying for the program (I can take A&PII in the summer or Fall).

My thinking has been that if I (and my family) can get through this semester okay...with some shreds of sanity left...and I can get A's in all 3 classes, then we could all probably handle it if I do the accelerated bsn program rather than a 2 yr program.

Do you think that my reasoning is good? Is this a good indicator of my (and my family's) ability to handle an accelerated program? I really would like to be done in a year...and I'm fine with making sacrifices...I just don't want to have it destroy my family or make me lose my mind...well, I guess temporary insanity would maybe be okay...

I sure appreciate any advice/experiences/opinions!

That makes sense to me - I'm in an accelerated program, and this semester I have Med Surg I and II concurrently, Psych, and Leadership (plus lab and clinicals). Both MS courses are much more work than any prereq was, and psych is no cakewalk. The only negative would be if you can't make it, and you wind up with not an A in one of those classes - might make it tougher to get in if you decide to go the slower paced route. Both schools I've attended (Katrina flooded one of them) funnelled everyone who had a prior degree into the accelerated route though - if you decide not to do it, you might have to make an effort to get put in the regular track.
