Cleveland area internship programs for students

I'm starting my ADN program at Lorain County CC on Jan 14 - I've decided (after much thought) to quit my job as an STNA (at a hospital 50 miles from home). But I'd like to continue doing some work/shadow/internship, etc in a hospital while in school. I'm not concerned about making $ now, but I would like to gain some experience in my areas of interest (in and around the OR, and ER/ED) - without committing to a lot of structured work time.

Any nurses out there have any advice? I see the Clinic has a program once you've completed your first clinical. I'll follow-up with them, but any other info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You may try calling a local hospital and finding the names and contact information of the Director and/or Nurse Manager of the areas you are interested in and then contact them about your interest. Also, you will be starting school soon and you may want to talk with one of your nursing instructors for pointers. In addition, if you know any surgeons, anyone who has done surgery on you or a family member, you may try contacting them and see if they will let you observe a surgery or two that he/she may have scheduled.

Good luck!
