You have:Palm TX or iPaq and Switched to Touch/Smarthphone

I am just wondering: who of you out there have or had a Palm or iPaq and switched to either a smartphone or iTouch? I am weary of getting a smartphone because of the lack of screen size and fee's for the e-mail/internet and of the ban of cell phones in most hospitals while you're on the floor. The school that I will be going to for nursing school requires that you have a PDA and I know that many people on here have the Palm but I am very interested in getting an iTouch... I am just so torn between the Palm TX and an iPaq. I feel that the iPaq is newer in terms of technology but I hear that the Palm works very very well and has been around forever... So hence the abundance of apps that are out. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks in advance...

I have a Palm 755p and I have a love hate relationship with it. It's hard for me to use, most of the applications are slow to run on it and it locks up often. I am stuck in a contract with my cell provider for 14 more months, so there will be no getting rid of the Palm for now as far as my cell phone goes..... But I do not use my cell phone at work for calls (we do not have service in the building) so basically it's just another thing in my bag I bring to work every night.....

I also have an iTouch which was an early Christmas present) and I love it!!! I have Epocrates Rx and Skyscape (both the free ones) on there and they work great. They are quick, load fast and have some great pictures and best of all - it's so easy to read and see!!!

My current facility does not have WiFi but I haven't found any programs yet that I need my WiFi connection to work once the initial download is done.

If I had a do over, I would get the iTouch and then a reasonable, small cell phone as a separate product. I'm not sure I'll ever do the smartphone thing again.

Thanks for your 2 :twocents:. I also do not plan on doing the cell phone thing. I was planning on either getting a Palm TX or and iPaq but I was really considering getting an iTouch instead. Because they have bigger screens and newer technology and they're just all around awesome. And now they have Skyscape and Epocrates and what not for it. So I think that it's only a matter of time until there are more apps for it. :D
