2 Year Track Nursing

Published

Hey people!!

I need some help here. I'm finishing my pre-nursing requirement at the end of the coming spring (anatomy, physiology, psychology, statistics, microbio). I also finished all of the General Education Requirements.

However, I have done a lot of research but could not find a schools in California that offers a two path. Most of the schools are 6 semesters, or 8 quarters, but I have no record of schools that I have 4 semesters...or two year program.

I ran across CAL STATE Long Beach's Two Year program...But...They're only accepting 36 people.

Do you guys know any schools that offer a 2 year program in any state. I will finish all of my General Education, so I will directly start on the nursing ciriculum.

Thanks

From what I've noticed, most of the schools that have 6+ semesters include some classes as co-reqs rather than pre-reqs and you may qualify to bypass that "first" year if you've already finished those courses. You will need to contact the schools you're interested in to find out how their curriculum works.

Also, many many many programs are 5 not 4 semesters. It works out to be a two year program but you take classes through at least one summer semester (some of the 6 semester programs are two years with classes both summers)

Hope this helps a little.

Thank you...But can you list the schools...lol...

I have checked almost everywhere and all it lists are like ciriculum...lol

I'm in ALabama and 3 semesters of all nursing if you've finished your pre-reqs in a community college. And it appears that at University of Southern Alabama, you can get your BSN in 12mos provided you've finished all your gen eds and science reqs. I'll be certain tomorrow since that was my route. However, there is a catch, they only accept less than 15 students per semester. If you have a great GPA, you're more likely to be accepted. The same goes with the ADN at a CC. Hope this helps

Are you talking about getting a BSN in two years? There are TONS of two year colleges in California if you mean an ASN....

Keep in mind that required courses may vary from state to state. Make sure all your courses are transferable.

Additionally, I'm hearing conflicting requirements to apply i.e. prior BS/BA degree, but yet their website indicates not. I'm hoping to clear this up tomorrow.

Hate to say this but I hope your GPA is less than mine since we may be competitors if you apply. 15 spots aren't many.

:specs: Cool then... Will post what I find out tomorrow.

Where are you in CA? I lived in LA, SD most of my life until 3 yrs ago.

I am at one of the state colleges in CA and my program has what is called fast track where students who are done with GEs can graduate a semester earlier (so a total of 5 semesters). The nursing cirriculum allows students to add GE classes if needed. So for people like me who had already completed all of their GE classes, future nursing courses replace the units where the GEs would go so you can graduate sooner. For example, last semester (Spring '06) I took the nursing classes I needed to take along with the nursing classes that are for Spring of '07. Eh I had a long day today so I hope that made some sense haha. Let me know if you have any questions.

Did you try the BON?

This is a list, with links, to all of the approved nursing programs in CA.
