20 Year Old Misdemeanor Conviction

Published

I was accepted into the Individual Studies/ Pre- Nursing Program at Jamestown Community College, Jamestown NY for the Fall 2016 Semester. I need to take care of some educational issues before I can apply to the actual Nursing Program.

During Clinicals , students must gain their experience in multiple institutions in both NY and PA. Because a background check is necessary for each state, I looked up the respective Boards of Nursing to see where I stand.

I plead guilty to misdemeanor Resisting Arrest after being arrested when was 21. Disorderly Conduct- a Violation was dropped. Part of my sentencing was to attend a treatment center (I volunteered)due to the fact that at that age I was caught up in partying with my friends( drinking).

I know any offense is serious when applying for Licensing. My question is whether I'm barking up the wrong tree or is there a reasonable chance that I can be licensed as an RN in either state?

Thank you in advance. I've been reading articles on here for some time and I value anyone's input.

If that youthful indiscretion is the only thing that will show up on a background check- I think you're OK. Mind you, you're going to have to 'splain it, but it WAS 20 years ago.
