Yale New Haven Nurse Residency Program

U.S.A. Connecticut

Hello! I'm graduating from a BSN program in May and was trying to find information on the Yale New Haven Hospital Nurse Residency Program for new grads. I've been able to find descriptions of the program, but cannot find any information on how to apply or who I can contact with questions. If anyone has any information on the program or how/when I can apply I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Hi there. I am currently in it. From what I understand all new grads that start there are enrolled. I gave not seen specific postings for it

What you do us apply for positions of interest to you that are Clinical Nurse I level and require up to 1 year of experience. They will hire you into a specific position but you will also be in the residency program which entails a year of monthly meetings and continued learning. Good luck.

Thank you!

im pretty sure they still have positions open for there nurse residency because I checked the status of my application recently. thats if you didnt already apply!

do they accept ADN grads as well or is BSN required?

I have a few friends who are managers at Yale. They are moving away from hiring ADNs. That's not to say they don't hire them, but its more of having to 'know' someone. Its becoming more and more difficult to get into Yale as an ADN. Most, if not all, of their job postings say BSN required or highly peferred.

I have a couple of friends who were recently hired (all had some sort of RN experience) as ADNs but all were/are enrolled in a BSN program before they were hired.

Oh I see. I guess that's out of the question... I graduate in August with my ADN and am looking for a NICU position. And I also plan on enrolling in a bsn program asap. Being a male I've yet to see another in a NICU down here in florida

The critical care depts (NICU, PICU, SICU, MICU etc) are all BSN required.

A male in NICU..my daughters were both in NICU. Both had nurses that were men. And that was in 1992 and 2001. If I'm not mistaken I believe the hospital I work for now has a guy who works in PICU.

I heard if your in Yale you get your ADN register for a BSN get your BSN by 2020 possibly guaranteed a nurse job.

I'm confused. What do you mean by "possibly guaranteed a nurse job"?
