I am an ET nurse asked to speak to a hospice group on wound care. Does anyone have any suggestions on topics I can cover. Thank you

As an experienced hospice nurse, and now administrator of a hospice, remember that in hospice the focus is not on cure but on comfort. We don't try to heal the wounds, we try to keep them free from infection and free from pain. We don't push for aggressive wound treatment protocols and high end beds that often disturb the patient's sleep with their whirring noises. I would also think you need to understand that the hospice bears the burden of cost for all items related to the wound care, such as treatment, specialty beds, etc., which are drawn from a very limited pool of resources for that patient. If you need anything else, just ask....
