Would you stay at an assignment you didn't like for the money?

I took an 8 week assignment at a small community hospital in upstate NY in labor and delivery. I've spent most of this assignment so far in postpartum and the other half circulating for cesarean sections, (this hospital has like a 47% c-section rate which is ridiculous and way over the national average). It's kinda boring and I've never liked postpartum, but the money is great. My recruiter is asking me if I want to extend my contract. Right now there are no other assignments that pay this well. I'm trying to figure out if I want to sit around and wait for another decent paying assignment, take a lower paying assignment somewhere else, or if I should stay here for another 8 weeks. What would you do? Would you stay at an assignment you didn't like for money?

I just did something like this myself in my last assignment. I'm an ED nurse and I took an assignment that paid very well, but I hated it! In my opinion, it wasn't ED nursing, especially what I was used to. So, I stuck it out for the entire contract and then came back home to keep my ED/Trauma skills up.

If you really need the money, I would say stick it out for another 4 weeks or so, if not, then you know what you need to do.

I've done it (extended at an assignment I hated but paid well). It's a balancing act. What are your ultimate goals? I knew I would be traveling internationally for a few months and needed the $$ in the bank. In the end I'm glad I did it, but it was hard. My wine consumption definitely increased after horrible shifts. :)

I guess it depends how much you hate it. Looking back I regret at extending at certain hospitals and wish I had just moved on. But you live and learn. 8 weeks isn't as bad as the usual 13 weeks if you really need the money.
