Hi, I need some help deciding what to do. I'm an IEN with a
BSN; I applied to CNO and was deemed exam eligible:redbeathe. However, I'd love to go to Nursing school again. I truly value the education I received in my country, but I think sometimes people with foreing credentials have a tougher time finding good jobs and educational prospects. I'm still young and my family is supportive of my decision, but I'm still unsure.
Would you guys go through university again just to add a new diploma to your wall or just move on with what you already have??? Please note that I'm kind of nerdy
Presently, I'm planning on writing CRNE and if everything goes well, get a nursing job while attending university. I'd love to work in LTC first and after graduating from my second BSN get into accute care. What do you think??? Am I obsessed with nursing???

Tongue bit.
You won't learn anything new going to school a second time, academically.
What you need to work on is your skills. New grads are hired by acute care fresh from university.
You need to develop confidence in your skills. Have you ever actually worked as a nurse?
None of the foreign educated nurses I work with have ever had a problem finding a job.

Unless it is to further your nursing career I can't see the need to go back just because you love it.

If you really want to go back to school, how about instead of getting the same degree twice, you got a MSN?

If you want more study, you also have the option to go for certification in a specialty once you get working and see your special interests. If you look at requirements for jobs, specialized training as well as experience seems to be the ticket, not necessarily degrees.
Meanwhile, for a self-professed "nursing nerd", there are always online sites where you can get latest news articles on health and nursing in particular, best evidence practices, do CME/CEs, etc. I agree, no need to get the same degree twice unless you want to shine the second time around. You'd probably be bored anyway!
Since you're young you might have time for everything. Obviously you liked nursing school but you have to move on. Also, I recommend trying for acute care first. My teachers always advised at least 2 years med-surg then you can go in any direction you want and my experience has proven them right!

I'm also a [science-loving] nerd.
Would I do my undergrad over again!? HELL NO.
Would I pursue further education? Absolutely.
If you want to brush up, try a RN refresher course.
Thanks for the advise, I'm thinking over and probably will go the certification route or try some additional courses before enrolling in a Masters. I'm actually looking into something in French (I need that "fully bilingual" tag). I don't feel that bad about my skills, but probably I don't feel up to the high expectations of my instructors.
