This is me too and this is why I keep making different excuses of why I need one! So what is limited data plan? You only have so many uses to me online per month? I have seen so many apps that look neat; I am kind of wish that my school made that mandatory!

Well I have an unlimited data plan through Verizon so I can use as much as I want on apps or online. That Guy said they might be changing that. But it hasn't changed yet at least. Limited would mean you pay by usage so they will most likely have different data plans available depending on how much you use. Kinda like texting packages and min. packages.

Verizon is changing their plans to get rid of their unlimited data packages, but I don't understand why. Their plans aren't actually unlimited anyway. Once you hit 5GB they overturn your wallet with insanely high charges for each additional MB of data used.

It seems to me that they would be making loads of money on the "unlimited" data plan. The vast majority of people use nothing even close to the allotted amount. For everyone that does exceed 5GB they take some more money from them.

As for being grandfathered in, Verizon is usually good about that if you call in, but be expected to lose that once your 2-year contract is up. When you get a new phone you will lose the existing data package. The press release that mentions the deletion of the existing unlimited plan does however talk about family data plans. If you have several family members currently on the unlimited data plan, expect to save a few bucks with that.

Do you know when verizon will come out with the Iphone5?

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference is on June 6th. Any and all iPhone related questions should be answered then. As for the iPhone 5, apple has been releasing them in the summer for the passed few years. If you do want to upgrade your phone and are thinking about an iPhone I would definitely wait. The iPhone 4 was released June 24th, so about that time.

Interesting. I just upgraded my sons phone tonight to the iPhone4 and the unlimited date plan. It let me and restarted his 2 years. I wonder when they will finalize it all. My phone is do to upgrade end of summer and we are on a family plan with unlimited texts and each have data plans and other things too and 1400 shared minutes. I also get a 23% discount from when I worked for GMAC

I'm one of those grandfathered into the AT&T unlimited. I am ALWAYS on my phone using my apps, and I don't come close to even using the amount that would be allowed by a more restricted plan. Unfortunately, I wouldn't save ANY money by going to a different plan. MEH. (Tempted to get Sprint, but I JUST upgraded to an Android based phone last week. OOPS! lol)

As for the smartphone- I don't really use mine for nursing. If I do, it's when I go to pick my patient at the clinical site. I just fill out my paperwork there at the hospital- I've found that it's easier and faster for me there. (Plus the RN is always there if I need clarification on something in the chart...can't get that at home.) I use my phone for nursing simply because it allows me to not have to lug 50lbs of books inside with me. I don't have any nursing specific apps though, just the internet.

If you think you'd really use it, go for it. However, I wouldn't bother if you don't think you would. (Plus, there are a TON of time wasting things you could use it for, which is half my problem with studying sometimes! lol)

Wait, I lied. I do download some of my class power points onto the phone so I can look at them during class, or while I am reading my book at home so I know the key points I need to highlight. (My instructors know that's all I am doing, or I wouldn't DARE use it in class.)

Good luck!

Oh yeah. Even though it could be delayed, I'd still wait till June 6th.

FYI I use Virgin Mobile for my Android phone. They have great plans at three tiers: $25 for 300 anytime (AT) minutes/unlimited messaging/unlimited web, $40 1200 AT minutes/unlimited messaging/unlimited web, and $60 unlimited everything. I have the $25 plan and have been using it since August 2010 with another phone before the Android one was released. I had them originally when they first came out back in 2003 and they were great then but wayyy better now. There are a few nuisances with network outages and such, but for the price, it is a great value. They operate on the Sprint Network. I get what most others have on their $80+/month phone plans for way less $$$.

When I found out that Virgin would give me unlimited internet access on the Sprint network for $40 a month instead of $82 or whatever Sprint had jacked my internet rate up to, I couldn't wait to dump Sprint then get back on the Sprint network with a Virgin internet card.
