worried....and need advice/pick me up

Published

This will be my 2nd attempt at the nclex and I seem more nervous than i was the 1st time around. I just purchased the NCSBN 5 week course. I just took my pretest and scored a 58% (passing is 75%). I took Kaplan for my 1st time and failed. I also purchased the 5th edition Saunders Q&A book, and the PDA from LaCharity. I feel like I do well on the Saunders but when I took the NCSBN pretest I feel like a moron. I haven't set a date to retake my test but I just want to know how if anyone out there has done the NCSBN, scored below average and passed. I also want to know what everyone did for their 2nd attempt to pass the NCLEX? Sorry this is long I'm just worried and nervous that I will never pass this darn thing.

We scored the same in NCSBN pretest. For sure, NCSBN questions are much harder than Saunders (I also did great w/ Saunders questions, mostly 65-80's). But don't be discouraged with your scores. They're just #'s. What you must be focused on is to read every rationale, and make sure you understand it well. I'm done w/ NCSBN lessons 1-7 and my scores are getting up, now I already have 70%. Yes, it says to have 75% at least to consider you pass, but that score, even if you get it, doesn't mean you will surely pass nclex. Just keep on practicing. And study whatever content you think you're lacking, based on your practice questions. Good luck on your studies. And keep the faith. ;)

thank you :) have you taken your NCLEX yet?

dont let scores discourage you. You can do this...Schedule your exam as soon as possible and dont overwhelm yourself.

i can reschedule my exam in about 15 days (45 day wait). I was thinking of re doing my exam by end of may. And your right you shouldn't wait too long to retake the exam whats the worse thing that can happen is you fail...so what take it again :)

Yes last 2010 but I failed. And I'm taking it for the 2nd time on Mar 9. Praying to pass it this time. Good luck and God bless to us. :)

Good! Keep me updated.

go ahead and schedule it for March 14.......dont wait until May!

I agree! The sooner scheduled the better! I just took my nclex for the third time and failed so I know the feeling of being lost. The time between the first and second time was way too long. I waited about 4 and a half months... Th second time I took it, I came home and got the CC screen and just paid it. I waited 4 weeks for an ATT and then couldn't get a date for almost a month. I signed up again this time the second I found out I failed, waiting for an ATT.... Point being, don't let too much time pass! You know your stuff, it's just this damn test is so unpredictable with questions, and I'm a horrible test taker. You'll be fine!

That's the thing! I know my stuff it's the test and it's darn tricky questions. Your right I'm just going to go for it

I am using NCSBN as well. I heard from previous repeaters that it helped them greatly to pass and that the questions are similar to the boards. on my pretest I got 68% and on the post test I keeping getting lowest 40 to 55. After practicing my scores are now from 60-70. They are a great Pharm review as well.

I am doing the 5 week plan. I just feel like i cant get pass the 60 mark. so is 75% their 90th percentile mark? what are you using as far as practice besides the NCSBN?
