Worried About NLN Exam

Published

I have a bit of a situation: I want to do an LPN program at a community colelge, but most of them require the NLN exam. I have a BS in legal studies and am quite good with Math and English, but my science knowledge is basically on the 5th grade level. I am taking A&P I online from Ocean County CC this fall (could not get into the summer class) and after that I will take A&P II. In high school, which I graduated from in 05, I took biology, chemistry, and A&P. However, I remember virtually nothing I learned in HS. I also heard that the NLN exam includes physics. Is this true? I have never taken a physics class before. I took the NLN back in 05 and did not do well on it. I had a review book, but I found it so hard to prepare for the exam all on my own. I think I also had trouble since my knowledge of chemistry was lacking due to the fact that our teacher was literally absent for 5 months, during which we learned absolutely nothing!

What does everyone think of going to a for profit school that does not require the NLN? Before I would go to such a school, I would do all or most of my prerequs at Ocean County CC. My mother is an RN with 25 years experience and she said that most employers only care that you have your nursing license, not where you went to school. After I get an LPN, I would go on for my RN.

Thanks in advance!

I took the NLN before I took any pre-reqs and I passed. It was not too bad at all. Just get the book and do what you can and know that you did your best and I know you will pass! :D
