Hi! I hope you don't mond me posting here!

I have a friend who works in Dubai, salary is $1000 taxfree! Free airfare, free food and lodging and 1 month paid vacation every year. The place is great being that this country is moderate compare to Saudi Arabia where women can not go out alone and and other religious restrictions.

This is the info I got from him when I saw him a few months ago when he was on vacation. Otherwise I don't know a lot.

Good luck to your plans! :)

jjjez, I spent 7 years working in Saudi Arabia. Absolutely adored it. Vacationed in the UAE, but never worked there. Much more free than Saudi in that you can walk around without an abaya (cloak) covering your clothes, don't have to cover your hair, there is alcohol allowed, and you are able to chat with the opposite sex without being married to them. Thing I hated was the humidity. Being in Dubai in July is truly like never getting out of the sauna.

If I can help you with any info on the region, please feel free to pm me, OK?

I have colleagues working there,

although I'm an arabic man who know alot about arab countries. but never reached UAE.

it will be good experience for you, but you have to consider the temprature and humidity.

I will be pleased to answer any question you may have about the general life with arabic people.

good luck

ahmad

this is a very old thread and would have been better posting a new one. I doubt it as most countries and all adverts I have seen for the UAE ask for RN

Hi jjjez,

I have worked in Dubai for 10 years. It's a nice country and most open among the middle eastern compare to other neighboring ones. Nightlife is superb as if you feel never tired after your working hours, plenty of sunshine, it only rains 4 - 5x a year huh! Summer is extremely hot & humid from June-Sept. Dept. of Health and Ministry of Health are the governent hospitals with lots of branches. Hospitals are very clean and wider. Streets are wider, you can stay in villas with pool or any multi-storey flat. Once you employed they will offer you Accom allowance, petrol, misc. You have gratuity after your contract. Petrol/diesel is very cheap. You can afford to buy new car. You will enjoy plenty of holidays like during Ramadan. There's lot of britons in Dubai than in Abu Dhabi. There are 7 emirates but each emirate has different colour of sand. Plenty of bigger malls, beaches, leisures, sports club, variety of restaurants, gold souks, etc, ohhh well I don't know how to explain it to you, otherwise I would not have worked there so long years... Hope my experiences are ok for you! :lol2:

Hi! :)

Just want to ask how long, in general, are contracts in Dubai? Does or can anyone suggest a good agency? How does one go about getting a job there? Do they require a work experience? I only have volunteer work experience, with a month and a half training in hemodialysis. I am just thinking of trying it there because of the retrogression in the US. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

It depends on your contract, normally 3 years then renewable... They prefer with experience. Try to surf and type Dubai employment opportunity, maybe you can find any website or try to type Gulfnews or Khaleej newspaper.

You need tp pass an examination to get DOH licence to work in Dubai and MOH licence to work in ministry hospiatals.Life is easy or hard depends on how much salary you get.there are 12 hrs shift also 8 hrs shift.shortage of nurses, work load is more-again depend where u get posting.Humidity in Dubai kills-HUH=====It is islamic country you have to follow their rules and regulations------Dubai is better but still one should know how to speak and understand arabic to work in good hospital, referral hospital provides translators to specialist or consultant only-surf net-----grass is always green on either side
