Good eve to all. I will b starting a position at Univ of Penn hospital next week and wonder if anyone can offer some pros and cons plus any experiences with being employed by them. The position at hand is on a medsurg/tele floor and I am truly excited. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I too am a new grad that hs been doing pediatric homecare since April.

hi i have been at HUP for almost 5 years. I wil say that the benefits and great (pay, insurance, time off) the experience is also amazing, you will see the sick of the sickest patients. you will also work with some of the most knowledgable and skilled professionals.
the only cons that i will freely speak of, is that because its such a big hospital we are often very very busy. most of the time being busy isnt the issue, its the patient progression that gets tricky. for instance, downgrading a sick ICU pt, to go to the floor in the operating room, so that a direct admit can take an ICU bed. now the floor nurse has a really sick pt on top of the other 3 that may already require a significant amount of care.
if you have any other questions please feel free to pm me :)
