I am a travel nurse in the US wanting to enjoy a work vacation in New Zealand. I haven´t been successful in finding a travel company on the internet and so have wondered if I would need to travel out of Australia? Travel companies here in the states specialize in bringing foreign nurses to the states. I did pull up liscensing information for New Zealand and it didn't look too daunting. Any ideas?

There are no thirteen week assignments like we have in the US. You need to go thru their licensing process, then their immigration to get a visa that will permit you to work there. And you will need an employer to sponsor your petition, just like foreign nurses need for the US.
Best bet is to start with their licensing board first, before anything else.

Suzanne is correct - here in Aust we do not have "travel companies" as such (hey Suzanne - perhaps next time you are over this way we should start one up;) ). We do have some agencies that will book you for short term employment at different facilities around the country but they are not set up as they are in the US.

As stated above, you would need a working VISA permit to work in this country and you may also be required to sit an exam of some type?
Good luck though, i think you would enjoy NZ, its beautiful!
