So....Feb 15th is when my replacement @ work will be all trained up (I had to give 6 mo. notice d/t I'm in charge of ordering supplies & a whole lot of other stuff @ my job that I've been @ x11 yrs.)
I'm spending this time doing:
TONS of research on travel nursing (taxes, contracts, tax homes, travel tips, recommendations on various hospitals & their ethics, transportation options, insurance options....). There's so much info to be found on this site, FB, PanTravelers, HH, Gypsy Nurse, Travel Tax, etc.
I've researched & talked to roughly a billion agencies & recruiters & narrowed it down to 5 (2 of them I really really like the recruiters).
I have a compact license but also picked several other states & got licensed in them, just in case something awesome comes up (including California because....that's a hot mess I don't want to be held back by in the future) & I want to be available.
I've researched housing, how it works & collected websites on places to find housing, I've read recs from others on tricks of the trade, utilities, furnishings, roommates...
I've made lists of Q's for recruiters, hospitals & collected written references from my supervisors.
I've had a physical & got my immunization titers drawn.
I renewed my ACLS.
I've saved money so that my first assignment can be just about FUN location & kicking ass as a good nurse.
Whew! I think that's it. LOL.
I'm just posting this because A. I'd like to know if I'm missing anything (not to worry about the experience part. I've been a nurse 26 yrs. & 17 yrs. in my current specialty), and B. maybe this post will help some other newbies (during this 6 mos. I've seen the same questions pop up over & over. maybe my list could help somebody).
Plus I'm so super excited. :)
Amy
P.S. I also arranged for a housekeeper b/c my 23 yr. old son will still be living in my house while finishing school. I don't want to come home every few mos. to my worst nightmare!!!
