Hello folks. I am hoping to hear from others who applied or hope to apply for a 2018 cohort in the accelerated program at Wisconsin Oshkosh. I applied in July and have my phone interview tomorrow. I was hoping for the February cohort, and I was told that applying during summer would be competitive for February but I noticed the website now says they are accepting only for May. I'd be okay with May too, so we'll see. I'm pretty excited for this interview tomorrow. I think overall my application looked really good, though I haven't had much CNA experience. I do have 4 years of doula experience though. :)
So what about others? Who else is hoping for 2018?

Hey!
I got into the February cohort, also from Oregon! Have you heard a response yet for the program? You should be fine, as long as you have the CNA experience, I didn't have the cert, but with all of my other experience they let me in! So you should be fine. Good luck chris!

Hi Justin! Congratulations! One of the staff mentioned to me that someone from my town (Corvallis) was accepted for February. Could that be you? I have not heard anything yet. My interview was almost 6 weeks ago. I checked in a couple of weeks ago because the interviewers said I would hear by the end of September, but apparently they meant October. So hopefully in the next 2 weeks! I can't wait to find out. My backup plan is Linn Benton, but I really don't want to take two years to get an Associate's when I could spend one year at Wisconsin and get the Bachelor's.
So once you were accepted, did you get info on what your calendar will look like? Is your orientation weekend already scheduled? You mentioned you have lots of healthcare experience. What have you been doing? Don't mean to be nosey... though I am curious what accepted students are like.

haha I don't think so....I did graduate at OSU from Corvallis, but I listed myself as a resident of Portland since I moved here. I guess another person got in close by! Well then, you should be hearing back any day then! Just keep checking your email. Do you think you would just apply again to the next cohort? They favor re applicants, and it would still be shorter than Linn Benton! They give you a complete timeline of class and clinicals (for a range of dates by week) about a month after acceptance. So yes, the orientation is scheduled for Feb 2-4! No, it is not nosy! I had my phlebotomy certification, but no experience. I had my EMT Basic and worked a ton for about two years, then 1 year in the ER where I could draw blood, do EKGs, catheter patients, etc. I also had a 2 week medical trip to Belize, and a 3 month internship to Africa. My GPA was a 3.3, but pre reqs were a 3.6. That's it for experience!
I got my acceptance letter today! Whew... that was 7 weeks of waiting. Almost killed me...lol. I'm in for May. I can't wait to get more details.
That's a lot of medical experience! I can see why they would look favorably on that. I see another person asked about 2018 cohorts. I'm coming over to comment on that thread too.

Hi Hikeat96- wanted to comment here because I'm also in the May 2018 cohort at UW! How are you feeling about the upcoming program? I am nervous but excited - still feel like I have a LOT to do before the program starts...!
Yay!!! I'm glad to find someone from May. I'm really excited for things to get started. Only 13 days till our first class opens up! I can't wait to meet the rest of our cohort. I'm really looking forward to getting to know people. Feel free to email me and we can chat until things start. My oshkosh email is olsenc64@...
