Bryant & Stratton Nursing Program - WI

U.S.A. Wisconsin

What is your opinion of the nursing program at Bryant & Stratton? I took the TEAS Test and have been accepted. I'm a little concerned because although they are an accredited program with the state of WI, they are not nationally accredited yet. I would love to work at Froedtert after becoming an RN and am not sure if I would have any trouble getting into there. One thing appealing about B & S is the no wait list vs. MATC. Any experience or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Raven0 I sent you a msg please let me know if you received it. Sending msgs is new to me. Thx

I am looking into Bryant and Stratton as well! I was wondering if anyone who has previously/or currently attended transferred in credits from anywhere else? I have completed Anat/Phys I already and want to know what else I could take at the local community college first. Is it still a 20 month program if you have some of the Gen. Ed's done already??

You can transfer in credits and required basic required classes but I am not certain as to what the outlined rules are on that. For sure they have to have been within five years. I think you should meet with the admissions coordinator. It's informal and if you have existing credits and bring in your transcripts they get back to you pretty fast as to what they will transfer in.

Awesome, thanks for the quick response! I have a meeting now set up with them, but not for a few more weeks because of my current schedule....can you (or anybody else!) if you know, give me an idea of what general ed/basic classes that require? Such as math, chemistry, psychology? I know I can have all this answered at my admissions meeting, I am just very impatient :-)

Hi Lynn829!

I'm actually retaking my TEAS test next week Saturday so I've been working with Bryant & Stratton for a couple of months now. I had the same question as you and they told me that although you will have transfer credits coming in, the program will still last you 20 months. They'll just register you for the classes that you need in that semester. For instance, the first semester. I believe for their Nursing program the first classes are Math, Ana/Psy, Intro to Nursing, Psychology, and English. I will have Psych coming in so that'll be one class down and a lighter schedule.

Wish me luck! I'm studying like crazy still so hopefully I will be beginning classes in September!!

I, too am enrolled in Bryant and Stratton and I enjoy the small class sizes, the top level educators in each class and the support is outstanding. Yes, every program/school has it's hiccups and growing pains but you will get out of it what you put into it. I researched all the other schools in the area and found this program the best for me.

I am a current student at BS I am entering 3rd semester. I do agree its a fast way to your ASN but its not an easy way and truthfully the school itself is not great. There are some instructors that should not be instructors and some are fabulous. We had an A&P II instructor last semester that taught it at a high school level and truthfully we taught ourselves with the help of our A&P I instructor from the first semester. Yes several students failed the nursing ATI second semester and in turn failed the class. There were so many between the campuses that failed they actually were allowed to retake it! Of this past third semester group 4 were removed from the program for failing the med/surg and the patho ATI. One student didnt have the 700 points in patho but did get the level II ATI which is proficiency but still failed because she needed the extra points a level III would have given her. Then there were students that had the 800-900 points for the class that only got level 1 on the ATI which is below the required knowledge but because they had the extra points to start they passed. BS has a 100% placement record but thats because only about 5-10 students make it from start to finish. I can honestly say that there is a lot that should not go on at this school that does. At times its shady to say the least but I grin and bear it because I have too much invested to bother with it, would I recommend it truthfully no I would not.

Raven...Can you let me know which campus did you attend? Thanks. I'm taking my teas for the 2nd time next month. Heads up if you are taking your teas test for the 2nd or third time, remember your login and password that you make up when you register to take the test. It will help you in the long run....:w00t:

How are your classes going so far? I'm supposed to start this sept....

Look twice before you leap. Ask Froedtert whether they will accept a ADN prepared RN. Many hospitals want BSN prepared. If not, UWM would be your better choice. Inquire about teachers degrees, ask graduates of the program or the present students. You can go to Both the campus and ask the last semester students. Inquire if there are any PhD teachers in the school and how many? Education should not only be quick but also quality. Hope this helps.

Very true. Research - goggle what their NCLEX passing rates are. Do not just accept what someone says. Look for the facts. If you do not graduate/pass in your last semester and have no choice of a second chance, you will be out of a lot of money...

State schools are usually much cheapter than private schools.
